S.1 Healthy Cooking Competition 1718


On 4th May, six groups of Form 1 students gathered in the Home Economics Room for a friendly cooking competition. Each group of budding young chefs had the opportunity to create unique dishes by using a variety of healthy ingredients.  Students were asked to wash, cut, slice, chop, peel, dice, cook, and garnish, before describing their dishes to their fellow students and a panel of judges.

Those students who were not cooking were able to have a taste of their classmates’ inventive dishes, as well as vote for their favourite group based on the taste and the appearance.

It goes without saying that this competition was a great success thanks to the help of our judges, teachers, and student helpers! Through this event, students were able to gain valuable life skill by working in teams to create and cook for others. They also grew in confidence by presenting and talking about their recipes to the judging panel and audience in English.

After the competition had concluded, our Principal Ms Lai offered her constructive feedback while imploring us all to be more conscious of healthy eating and what we put into our bodies each day, because our health is the recipe for a successful life!
